Twitter mobile messaging has now taken a bolder and more engaging twist with Twitter’s acquisition of Cloudhopper. It is up for a more stable messaging infrastructure for it’s up to a billion SMS tweets received monthly. It’s also said to be part of Twitter mobile aim of linking everyone with a mobile device by sending 140 character message anywhere and anytime.

Cloudhopper is a provider of mobile messaging technology to businesses in the wireless space. “Based on its patent pending intellectual property, Cloudhopper supplies the underlying software and infrastructure to reliably scale and geographically disperse some of the world’s highest volume messaging programs — all with zero downtime”, says its website.

Google launched its newest service called Buzz on Tuesday. The event was personally graced by Google’s top people including Google Buzz Product Manager, Todd Jackson, who kicked off the major features this service has to offer.

Google Buzz is not the ordinary social networking service people are accustomed to since it is integrated right inside Gmail. Users have now the chance to have a seamless and very convenient way of sharing to the world bits and pieces of what matters most to them. Highlights include, in comparison to Twitter, its auto following which automatically puts in people you connect with through email or chat on your “following people” list. There is no setup needed which lets you use the system right away.

Buzz also lets you share photos, videos and links much like how it is with other social sites like Facebook, Twitter or MySpace, however, it is an improved version. Pictures are easily viewed, with large previews and faster navigation and videos can be watched without leaving the page you’re in. A more exciting feature however is how Google Buzz lets you share your other information from sites like Picasa, Google Reader, Twitter or Flicker. You get to share all these sites with your contacts directly from the Buzz page.

Privacy issues surround this new service but it actually provides options for a public or private sharing of the “buzz” one makes. This gives the user the control who he wants to access certain information he posts without sacrificing his privacy. It also separates Gmail inbox from the whole service which is another way to protect important files or emails.

Truly, Buzz is another breakthrough service Google is offering that combines variety products like social service, mail and chat to people around the world, with ease of use and convenience in mind.

NASA Astronaut Twitter From Space

Seemingly something NASA people have been seriously working on in the past, the time has finally come that space twittering has been achieved. Live tweet from space was sent by TJ Creamer, Flight Engineer of Credit Expedition 22, Friday morning. Truly, this is a milestone for the space scientists, engineers and of course, the twittering world.

TJ Creamer sent out the first ever live Tweet in space right from NASA International Space Station and it goes – “Hello Twitterverse! We r now LIVE tweeting from the International Space Station — the 1st live tweet from Space! More soon, send your ?s”

This was attained through the very remarkable wireless connection called “Crew Support LAN” put up by NASA. In the past, web access was not this advanced that astronauts had to send Twitter messages via email to ground base workers who in turn posts these to Twitter. Talk about geniuses’ work right? NASA has made a wireless connection available directly to the astronauts for better communication with them as well as to give way for the astronauts to keep in touch with their own families back on Earth for the duration of the mission.

Now that web access through Twitter has been successful, people can expect more highlights of this in the next expeditions in space. NASA is sure to improve this technology and bring out its other potential use in the future. And we all can’t wait!

International CES on January 7-10, 2010

The beginning of the year will be highlighted by one of the most attended corporate consumer events across the globe. The International CES is set on January 7-10, 2010 and to be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center/Las Vegas Hilton and The Venetian, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. This worldwide affair is gearing up to accommodate its 2,000 members for the much anticipated consumer electronics affair of the year.

Google Chrome OS 2010 Release

Google Chrome OS is expected to hit in full blast by mid of this year if earlier schedule will push through. There have been mixed reviews on how an open source operating system can step up to the most used Microsoft Windows OS. If only to look on the speed and web based application features of Google Chrome OS, one’s imagination will run far and wide.

In a constant pursuit of how users can experience a faster and more efficient computer experience, Google had in mind an operating system based on Linux where the only limitation is a person’s mind. Everything is accessible through the web like writing emails, loading pictures, files, videos, music or games. Browsers are the key to a speedier manner of doing all these – personal to business related purposes. Google Chrome OS is going to provide all these. Furthermore, time to boot up a pc or wait to connect to the internet will all just be a thing of the past.

The new Chrome OS also introduces a more streamlined approach to computer software maintenance. This is without having the taxing task of matching every software and hardware pieces for it to work together. Software updates will also be something that are no longer to be a constant worry about.

Facebook Privacy Changes Draw Criticisms

The latest buzz about the newly revamped Facebook privacy settings has been about disapprovals and disappointments from different groups worldwide. There have been a lot of questions thrown at Facebook as to the new settings users now have to stick with. Many are expressing alarm about it.

One of the major changes to the privacy settings is that each section is simpler to understand and navigate through making it easier for users to choose the level of privacy they want or review any changes they want to apply if they have set it up using the old scheme. For users who are keen on meticulously setting each and every part of the Facebook categories, this is a welcome treat. There are not so much things to deal with other than how one wants to protect his information.

The other unpopular change that has been introduced is the default setting of publishing certain details to everyone. This poses risks for users who have not placed their privacy settings before it was changed. Another thing, applications may now pull more information than a user would want to share. This includes name, profile picture, networks and others. A blog post by the Electronic Frontier Foundation or EFF has a more detailed representation of this matter.

There are certainly some good points that have been raised by some sectors, individuals and concerned groups as to why such negative reaction is received with the new privacy introduction. Surely, the concept being introduced will improve as it is being used and people can expect more types of photos to be included for web searches. Facebook Now with More Than 350 Million Users

An open letter from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced the good news of having more than 350 million users around the world. This marks a time for some changes to take place in Facebook usage more specifically to its privacy system.

With the development taking shape that started as early as July, the Facebook founder has announced on its post that it is now ready to launch a new, simpler and better system for its growing users. “The plan we’ve come up with is to remove regional networks completely and create a simpler model for privacy control where you can set content to be available to only your friends, friends of your friends, or everyone”, taken from the open letter of Mark Zuckerberg. Furthermore, the message states that users will now have the flexibility of controlling what a contact can see on information created or uploaded by the user.

Facebook account owners can expect to receive instructions on how to go about the adjustment of their privacy settings in the coming days.
