The Boeing 787 Dreamliner Airplanes has brought a whole new meaning to airline transportation in this generation of ours. The latest jetliner with a capacity of 200 – 300 passengers is the latest state-of-the-art development of Boeing engineers and designers.

Conventional aircrafts in the past have received several face lifts with each new model being launched. Boeing 787 Dreamliner is thought as a far-fetched “dream” but soon became a reality. The vision of making a commercial aircraft with improved cabin layout, having the largest windows ever to be used and having environment friendly LED lighting and composite materials for most of its body parts have all been achieved in this airliner.

Boeing 787 first flight is going to be such a memorable experience especially with window glass that is made even more sophisticated with its dim feature that brings so much ease to any traveler. Aside from these, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has engines that are fuel-efficient, it has lightweight aluminum alloy materials and much improved landing gears design and functionality.

This airliner is set to take its pilot commercial flight in 2010 while successful flight tests have been conducted as early as this year until next year.

Techno-Talk knows that the next big thing to transportation is hybrid cards and electric vehicles which is the reason another great article features this subject. Let’s take a closer look at Mitsubishi zero emission mini car which we will actually see, drive and experience in select states here in the US very soon.

The Mitsubishi zero emission mini car is a product of the company’s decades of devotion to research and development on electric vehicles . More commonly known as the Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle (i-MiEV), this car is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that presents impressive performance data when compared to the other gasoline-powered vehicles. A required 12-14 hour charging time is all you need to use it for a great 160 kilometers running distance.

The i-MiEV comfortably seats four people and generates minimal noise thanks to its lightweight, high-power permanent magnet motor. However, the greatest aspect to this Mitsibishi zero emission mini car is the fact that it is very safe for the environment. It uses less power, thus contributing to a cleaner and a pollutant-free community.

Next generation vehicles are what the world needs to fight the increasing problem of climate change and global warming phenomenon. Hybrid cars or electric vehicles with the same characteristics of i-MiEV should be supported and promoted all throughout the country and all across the globe.

The car industry is not doing well in the market now. Cars are expensive and the continuous rise in gas prices make the consumer think twice about purchasing a car. Car manufacturers are now thinking of options in making a car that won’t need gas. GM Motors is already doing tests for electric operated cars.

The Chevrolet Volt is an improved version of EV1 which was introduced by General Motors in 1990. The EV1 had a tremendous achievement. General Motors conceptualized Chevy Volt from EV1. With the Chevrolet Volt, there is a significant change in design. The range problems, as well as the room for passengers, are addressed. Consumers are having doubts of getting an electric operated vehicle because of limited range and inability to climb hills. Users also fear of running the air conditioning of the car since it will drain the battery. These issues are addressed and solved by General Motors with Chevrolet Volt.

A lithium-ion battery pack is where the car will get its energy. The battery pack can be fully charged in six hours to eight hours by simply plugging the car into a 110-volt outlet. When the batteries are fully charged, the Volt can cover up to 64km of pure electric vehicle range. That means that when a person uses the Volt in going to work and the distance will just cover 30km, there won’t be any gas consumption going to and from work if the car is fully charged.

The volt makes use of a small 1.0 liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. If the battery is drained, the turbocharged engine spins at a constant speed and produces electricity. This also replenishes the battery which is drained. The Chevy engine converts gasoline into electricity.

The GM Chevrolet Volt is expected to be launched in 2011. It has a four door rear lift gate and capable of carrying four passengers. The concept of this unique hybrid electric vehicle is to use electricity as its main power source. Gasoline will just be a secondary source of power. The target of this car is to reduce emissions, reduce oil consumption and energy diversification.
